It was Shah Abbas, the great architect and art lover who
founded the famous workshops of Isfahan, which he also served
his capital. Isfahan rugs have for centuries been very
appreciated both in the East and in Europe. They are still usually very
nice work; thickly linked to a grundvæv Cotton
sometimes with the weft of wool. Promissory is Seneh. Bottom color
mostly red, red or beige. The pattern is very fine with
characteristic meandering vines and lotus flowers, and with very
neat and accurately performed many colored
corner motifs. Knot density: 600-1000.000
