In the city Sarough located southwest of the capital Tehran Curtain is made of the same name. Saroughtępper is usually made of beautiful shiny wool, knytningener close, solid and regular and carpet are among the most durable of the Persian blankets. Node is Seneh and basic woven cotton, which allows for a very stable rug. Pile is wool. Bottom color is red or blue, rarely cream colored. The pattern is usually richly ornamented and often resembles a Kirman or Keshantęppe.

Sarough Sherkat carpets are produced in a project supported and controlled by the Iranian government.
