Tabriz is the capital of Azerbaijan, which lies in the
northwestern mountainous areas in Iran. As one of Persia's greatest
rug-producing regions, export Tabriz rugs in all
grades from the simpler to the most luxurious. The best
grades are divided into two main categories. One is Tabriz
Mahi, also called "Tabriz with fish pattern" (carpet
leaf-shaped pattern is called "Mahi", which means "fish"). The second is
Tabriz Nagsheh . Nagsheh means simply pattern
and refers in this connection to the figurative patterns and
symbols from Keshan and Isfahan, from which inspiration for Tabriz
Nagsheh curtain is drawn. Designs of Tabriz Mahi is the
detailed sheet figure as highlighted by the significant use of
silk thread. Often there is a small light medaillion and colors
rustic earthy tones with dark blue and pink. and weft and
grundvæv is cotton and a very nice cropped wool is used in the nap.
Linking technique is characterized by precision at a very high
level, naturally refined with the degree of link density. Tabriz
Mahi 40 has more than 320,000 nodes pr/m2. Tabriz 50 Mahi's
500,000 and the rare Tabriz Mahi 60 has 720,000 knots pr/m2.
Nagsheh Tabriz, Isfahan with motives, can have up to1, 5 million
knots per. m2.
