9. How can I clean my needlepoint?
1) If little grubby, usually using mild laundry detergent and water solution can be ok. If the needlepoint item is made of wool fiber, then wash the wool with a "Woolite" can be ok. If
the ietm is made of synthetic fiber or cotton, then use any fragrance-free, colorless, mild detergent is ok. 2) Try to spot clean the needlepoint if
there is only a small area of dirt on it. Remember not to rub, when you think you have lifted all the dirt you can, get some clean water and repeat the process.
3) If the needlepoint item is very dirty,
a better off way is washing all over the piece. You should gently wash it, then place the needlepoint between two dry towels and roll it up. Don't twist it, you should block the needlepoint before it dries.
10. How to make Persian rug?
Chinese silk rug, made of pure silk yarn, are produced in accordance with the triditional way. Before weaving, a lot of pre-job should be prepared.
1. Make charts & match colors.
Firstly design a chart and match colors on it so the worker can knit accordingly. A blue print must be appeared in the designer's mind because the designing is a creative work. To some extent, the first step is so important that it can mostly determine the value of the rug.
2. Make preparation of materials
Reel off raw silk from cocoons. Only 1/3 finest raw silk can be used in silk rug weaving. Next, bing the silk fiber into strands, then put it into alkaline boiling water for half an hour to make it flexible, and clean the admixture and alkali from boiled silk strands by water. Triditionally, yarns were dyed into different colors by natural
pigments, like saffron crous, indigo and acorn cup.... But nowdays, we also dye the silk yarn by chemical dye. Before weaving a rug, many colored silk yarn should be prepared.
3. Hanging warps
Warps will be looped tightly between the top bar and the bottom bar of the loom rack. Heddles will be fixed between horizontal bar and warps. Silk rug weaving can start after the foundation is woven by plain silk thread.
4. Weaving silk rug
To weaving silk rug, there are 2 triditional knots to make, one is Turkish Ghiordes knots(also known as double knots), another is Persian Senneh knots(also known as single knot). When a raw of knots is finished the weft yarns will be woven through compartment space between front and back warps. With the comb the knots and
wefts will be struck hard against the wefts.
